The 1954 Republic National Bank tower with the rocket spire, turned into 229 apartments in 2007 and run by Gables since. The pool is on the 35th floor and DART's St. Paul Station is next door.

Is it right for you?
Gables Republic Tower is the aluminum clad 1954 bank tower with the rocket on top. It's now 229 apartments with high ceilings and wide downtown views, a 35th floor pool and a DART station next door. Reviews from 2022 to 2026 keep coming back to elevators that are often down and a building that shows its age. You rent the ceilings, the windows and the train. You put up with the rest.
A good fit if
You want a landmark building: the 1954 Republic National Bank tower, on the National Register of Historic Places
You want a train at the door: DART's St. Paul Station is next to the building
You want high ceilings and wide downtown views from homes up to the 33rd floor
Maybe not if
You need dependable elevators: residents wrote from 2022 to 2026 that only one or two cars work some days
You want packages delivered to your building: since September 2024 they go through Fetch, an off site service
You want a balcony or a big pool: homes have no balconies, and residents call the 35th floor pool small

Reviews from 2022 to 2026 describe days with only one or two cars running.
An aging building
A 1954 tower turned into apartments in 2007. Reviews from 2022 and 2023 describe worn hallways and common areas, and a June 2023 review shows mold on a ceiling on the penthouse floor.
Around the station
Reviews from 2021 to 2023 mention people sleeping near the DART station and waste outside the entrances.
Noise: busy
The street scores 66 out of 100 (higher is quieter), mostly from traffic. Downtown traffic and the DART station are next door. Residents mention thin walls and a loud AC unit (2023).
Flood risk: low
FEMA puts this address outside its high risk flood area. Renters insurance doesn't cover floods, cars in the garage included.
Police reports
915 reports in the last 12 months in this small area around the building. 252 were against a person. A typical area this size nearby has 52.
Keep our help free: on your first visit, tell the leasing team you're working with Dallas High Rise Apartments. On your application, choose "Locator" under "How did you hear about us?" and write our name.
Event nights nearby
Game and event nights at the American Airlines Center. The arena's calendar lists 37 Mavericks home games, 32 Stars home games and 14 concerts and shows between November 2, 2026 and April 27, 2027, most starting between 6:30 and 8:30 PM and a few on weekend afternoons. On those nights Victory Park streets and garages fill up before the start, and traffic out of the area moves slowly after the final buzzer or encore. If you're touring or moving in on a weeknight, ask us to check the arena calendar first. The American Airlines Center is under a mile from this tower.
Reviews say often not. Residents wrote in 2022, 2023 and 2024 that only one or two cars work on a given day. A September 2026 review says the elevators are constantly in trouble with long waits. A January 2023 review called them speedy when they work. We ask how many are running before your tour. A 1954 elevator shaft isn't a quick fix.
What fees come on top of rent?
Gables lists $54.25 a month in fixed required fees: $30 valet trash, $20 package service, a $3 utility fee and $1.25 pest control. Heating and cooling come through a central system billed by use, along with electric, gas, water and trash. Liability insurance is required. Parking is $75 a month. To apply, it's $85, a $265 admin fee and a $1,000 deposit.
How do packages work?
Since September 1, 2024, packages go through Fetch: you ship to a separate warehouse address and Fetch delivers to your door. Residents wrote in late 2024 that some retailers won't ship to that address.
Where is the pool?
On the 35th floor, near the top of the tower. A 2016 resident wrote that it isn't fully open air, and a 2023 review called it small.
Does Gables Republic Tower allow pets?
Yes. Gables lists a $500 pet fee and $25 a month pet rent. Main Street Garden's dog run is about six minutes away. A few reviews mention dog waste in the elevators.
Is this the building with the rocket on top?
Yes. It's the 1954 Republic National Bank Building, 36 floors with a 150 foot spire the bank called the rocket. It was the tallest building in Dallas until 1959 and became apartments in 2007.
