Is it right for you?

The Drakestone is a landmark bank tower on Main Street turned into lofts. It has original concrete ceilings, a rooftop pool, and a concierge and valet at the door. Residents love the rooftop and the staff. What they don't love: parking in a public garage the building doesn't own, loud downtown nights and small rooms for the price. On October 31, 2026 the cheapest one bedroom was $1,863 for 908 square feet, about $2.05 a square foot. The Statler was $2.32 and The National $3.26 the same day.

A good fit if

  • You want a historic building with loft character: original concrete ceilings and floors, big windows and two story plans in some homes
  • You'd use a rooftop grotto pool, a solarium and a cupola above downtown, plus a concierge and valet
  • You want Main Street at your door, with discounts at The Joule's restaurants, spa and shops

Maybe not if

  • You want parking in your own building: residents pay monthly for a space in a public garage next door, and there's no guest parking
  • You want quiet nights: residents wrote about engine revving, car stereos and street noise after dark on every side
  • You want a big closet and a big bathroom: some reviewers found the homes small for the price

Parking in a public garage

The building has no garage of its own. Residents rent spaces in a public garage, wrote about break ins and broken gates there in 2023 and 2026, and say there's no guest parking.

Heat, elevators and pests

A January 2026 review reported a home without heat for at least five days. A February 2026 resident wrote that the elevators break often, and a 2025 resident who moved to the 4th floor wrote about roaches.

Noise: busy

The street scores 66 out of 100 (higher is quieter), mostly from traffic. Main Street nights bring engine revving, loud car stereos and street noise, and a 2024 resident found it reached every side of the building.

Flood risk: low

FEMA puts this address outside its high risk flood area. Renters insurance doesn't cover floods, cars in the garage included.

Police reports

1,083 reports in the last 12 months in this small area around the building. 319 were against a person. A typical area this size nearby has 52.

Keep our help free: on your first visit, tell the leasing team you're working with Dallas High Rise Apartments. On your application, choose "Locator" under "How did you hear about us?" and write our name.

Event nights nearby

Game and event nights at the American Airlines Center. The arena's calendar lists 37 Mavericks home games, 32 Stars home games and 14 concerts and shows between November 2, 2026 and April 27, 2027, most starting between 6:30 and 8:30 PM and a few on weekend afternoons. On those nights Victory Park streets and garages fill up before the start, and traffic out of the area moves slowly after the final buzzer or encore. If you're touring or moving in on a weeknight, ask us to check the arena calendar first. The American Airlines Center is under a mile from this tower.

Questions people ask about The Drakestone

What fees come on top of rent at The Drakestone?

The property's cost calculator, read in October 2026, lists two required monthly fees: $20 for trash and $5 for pest control. Water and sewer are billed by use, with a water and sewer admin fee. To apply, it's $75 per applicant and a $200 admin fee, with a $500 refundable deposit. Parking is extra and paid separately.

Where do residents park?

In a public garage the building doesn't own. Residents wrote in 2023 and 2024 that a space cost about $130 to $135 a month per car and that there's no guest parking. They wrote about gate and card problems and break ins at the garage, too. A January 2026 reviewer described a broken gate and people hanging around on the top deck. Valet is at the front door.

Is it noisy?

It's downtown on Main Street, and some residents find it loud. One who moved out in 2024 named engine revving, car stereos that shake the building and shouting on the street. The windows didn't keep it out on any side, they said. Others say the building is quiet inside. Main Street is the loud side on a Friday night, so tour after dark and stand in the home with the windows shut before you decide.

Does The Drakestone allow pets?

Yes. The calculator lists a $300 one time fee, $20 a month and a $200 refundable deposit per pet. The property doesn't publish a pet limit or breed list, so we check your pet with the office before you apply. There's a turf dog run, and Main Street Garden Park's dog area is about a nine minute walk.

What's the building's history?

It opened in 1926 as the headquarters of Republic National Bank and was later named the Davis Building. After sitting empty for years it became 183 loft apartments in 2003, one of downtown's first office to apartment conversions. Tim Headington bought it in 2017 and renovated it with residents in place, adding the rooftop pool and greenhouse lounge. It's a Dallas Landmark on the National Register of Historic Places.

Who manages it?

Headington Companies owns it, and 2025 replies to reviews come from a Cushman & Wakefield property manager. Google reviews since the renovation are mostly 5 stars. ApartmentRatings, which has reviews from the old Davis Building lofts too, averages under 3.
